Cora Gooseberry (ca. 1777-1852), also known as 'Queen Gooseberry', was an Aboriginal woman, the daughter of Moorooboora (Maroubra), a leader of the Murro-ore-dial clan, south of Port Jackson, Sydney, and the wife of Bungaree, a prominent Kuringgai man who was designated ‘Chief of the Broken Bay Tribe’ by Governor Lachlan Macquarie. She was a well-known Sydney identity who, after the death of her husband in 1830, continued to participate in colonial life, attending events at Government House and providing information on Aboriginal culture and history.
