Arthur Todd Holroyd (1806-1887), barrister and parliamentarian, was born at London, son of Stephen and Elizabeth Holroyd. He first studied medicine and practised as a physician in London before studying law. He was admitted to the English Bar and in 1843 travelled to Wellington, NZ, where he practised as a barrister and solicitor. In 1844 Holroyd travelled to Sydney where he was admitted to the NSW Bar in 1844. Holroyd was an elected member of the old Legislative Council (1851-1856) and was elected a member of the NSW Legislative Assembly for the seats of West Boroughs (1856-1857) and Parramatta (1861-1864).[ref:ADB 4] - Scope and Content30 June 1856; Autograph letter sent to the Hon.
