  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Thomas Gordon Gibbons Dangar (1829-1890), pastoralist and parliamentarian, was born at Sydney, son of Matthew John Gibbons, cooper, and his wife Charlotte. After his father's death his mother married Thomas Dangar in 1932 and Thomas Gordon Gibbons was brought up as the son of Thomas Dangar. He was educated at Sydney College. In 1847 Dangar moved to the New England district. He became a magistrate in 1855 and was elected a member of the NSW Legislative Assembly for the seats of The Gwyder (1865-1880) and The Namoi (1880-1890).
